About the BUBBAS
The Best Urban BMP in the Bay Award (BUBBAs)
The Best Urban BMP in the Bay Award contest recognizes the best urban stormwater practices and programs in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The goal of the BUBBAs is to:
- Recognize innovators in the field who are using new and innovative techniques for facing the challenges of stormwater management;
- Provide an avenue for disseminating these techniques to other communities who could benefit from the lessons learned and innovative approaches;
- Engage CSN’s 11,000 member network of stormwater professionals throughout the Bay watershed to choose our grand prize winner and promote interactivity among members
The 2023 BUBBAs Winners
Congratulations to our 2023 Finalists! This year’s grand prize winner went to John B. Cary Elementary school in Richmond, VA for their work in creating an eco-campus on a previously underutilized turf field. Their project, in partnership with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and Manchester Gardening, designed and implemented an outdoor learning space complete with native habitat, stormwater management, and outdoor learning space. Their commitment to engaging community members and partnerships at every step impressed our judges and the CSN network and earned them top place! Congratulations to the John B. Cary school!
