Davidson Wildlife Sanctuary

Project Team
SOUTH RIVER FEDERATION
Project Description

Davidsonville Wildlife Sanctuary, once the site of an algae-filled farm pond with barren banks, now features a beautiful restored wetland system that detains runoff and provides habitat for unusual native plants and animals ranging from the Solitary Sandpiper to the Pasture Spike Sedge. The Sanctuary Wetland is the “Best Overall BMP” because what was Beards Creek’s single most significant pollution source is now a healing wetland system that is open for the public to visit, and for students to come learn to install and maintain native Bay plant species.
