Project Description

Our jurors were impressed with this project because it utilizes an impressive variety of BMPs: bioretention, tree well filter boxes, pervious concrete, a vegetated roof, and a rainwater harvesting system. Multiple monitoring studies have been conducted on these BMPs and significant efforts in public education have been made with this project, ensuring that people continue to benefit from the lessons learned throughout this project’s implementation.

Best Ultra-Urban Project

This category recognizes the best application of green infrastructure (GI) practices that are built in highly urban areas to reduce flooding and pollutant delivery (more than 75% site impervious cover). Some examples include: green streets, walls, roofs or parking lots, rainwater harvesting systems, urban forestry practices, and permeable hardscapes.
