Project Description

Our jurors wanted to recognize this project as a 2014 third place winner for the creating a wetland system in a deteriorating parking lot located in the 100-year floodplain. The project filters excess nutrients and pollutants from the remaining parking lots on site and the variety of plantings provide valuable wildlife habitat for native wetlands species. The retrofit also demonstrates the simplicity of reversing the impact of past development and serves as an educational forum for park visitors.
