Rain Garden Wizard

The Oregon State University Extension office has developed a rain garden decision tree tool to help individuals decide which type of rain garden should be installed at a specific site.  The Rain Garden Wizard uses a series of questions about the proposed location of the rain garden to determine which design would be most appropriate to save the homeowner installation costs and maintenance headaches.

In addition to the decision tree, there are also a multitude of other resources on the OSU Stormwater Solutions website including LID design calculators, checklists, factsheets, precipitation data, GIS and mapping tools and an online runoff reduction calculator!

Potential users should note that these tools have been developed for the state of Oregon’s rainfall frequency distribution and should be adapted as necessary.
